1. What's a Tee Box?
Tee Box (or Teeing Ground) is a term used to refer to the tee box area, which is the starting area of each golf hole, where the player makes the first shot (Tee Off).
Each tee-off area is marked with 2 Tee Markers in different colors, indicating the distance from the Tee Box to the Golf Hole.
2. Popular Tee Boxes
2.1. Tee Box Categorization by Color
Except for the special golf courses, the standard golf course will usually have 4 Tee Boxes with distinct colors, suitable for players of all different levels.
In which, the distance from each Tee Box to the Golf Hole, is arranged in descending order as follows:
Black/Yellow Tee > Blue Tee > White Tee > Red Tee
In it:
- Black/Gold Tee : Highest level of difficulty, for professional, highly qualified golfers, Low Handicap
- Green tee (blue) : For medium-level golfer
- White (white) tee : For amateur or early golfers
- Red (red) : For Women's Golfers or Senior Golfers
According to the rules, players will have to compete with Tee of the same color throughout the round. That is, if you start the round, and you hit the first hole from the white tee, then the next hole is forced to hit the white tee.
2.2. Categorize Tee Box by Par Hole
Tee Box positions at par 3, par 4, par 5 holes are usually determined based on the length and difficulty level of the hole, aiming to create a balance between players at different levels. Specifically:
- Tee Box at the par-3 hole: This is the area with the most divisions. Since the golfer often uses an iron bat with a large slant to serve, it is easy for the grass to peel after hitting.
- Tee Box at the Par-4 hole is considered a challenging area, requiring Golfer to calculate carefully to make the shot with the right force and angle.
- Tee Box at the Par-5 hole: The smallest size with a simple design for the golfer to play.
