Should golf clubs use regular or Stiff handles?

Choosing the right golf club handle is one of the important factors to improve golf performance. Among them, the regular and Stiff handles are two popular types that many players often wonder about when choosing. Should we use a regular or a Stiff handle? Let's take a look at the following article.

1. Understanding Regular and Stiff golf clubs

Regular handle: This type of handle is more flexible than Stiff handle, suitable for players with average swing speed (about 85 to 95 mph). Regular handle makes it easier for players to control the ball line and strengthen the distance.

Stiff handle: This handle is tougher, suitable for players with high swing speed (over 95 mph). The Stiff handle helps control the accuracy of the hit, reducing the ball's spin.

2. When should the Regular handle be selected?

Regular handle is suitable for golfers whose swing speed is slow to medium. Players at the beginner or intermediate level often tend to choose the Regular handle to optimize distance and stability.

  • Swing speed: If your swing speed is 85-95 mph, the Regular handle will give you a softer feel when hitting the ball.
  • Distance: Regular handle helps increase the distance for the player when the swing speed is not too fast.
  • Sense of hitting: This type of handle creates a comfortable feeling, easily controlled by the player at a medium level.

3. When should the Stiff handle be?

If you are an experienced golfer and have a fast swing speed, the Stiff handle is the right choice.

  • Swing speed: Players with a swing speed above 95 mph will be easier to control the Stiff handle due to the high hardness.
  • Hit control: The Stiff helps improve accuracy and reduce the ball's spin, helping the ball track to be more stable and accurate.
  • Play style: If you have a strong and confident swing, the Stiff handle provides a better sense of control, especially when used in driver shots.

4. What's the kick point in the handle?

Kick point (also known as bending point) is the position on the handle where the bat will bend the most during the swing process. Kick point affects the height of the ball trajectory:

  • Low Kick Point: Create a higher ball trajectory, suitable for those who want to maximize distance.
  • High Kick Point: Create lower ball trajectories, better control for players with fast swing speeds.

5. How to choose the right golf club handle?

To choose the right type of handle, you need to determine your swing speed. Some ways to check swing speed are:

  • Using a swing speedometer at professional golf shops.
  • Consultation from a coach or golf expert.
  • Try different types of sticks to feel the difference between the handlebars.

6. In conclusion

The choice between the regular and Stiff handles depends on each person's swing speed and playing style. If you have an average swing speed and want to increase the distance, the Regular handle will be the right choice. On the contrary, if you have a high swing speed and want to control the ball more accurately, choose the Stiff handle.   Hopefully this article has helped you better understand the differences between regular and Stiff golf clubs, as well as other factors such as kick points and roll materials. For best performance, don't forget to consult a golf expert and experiment with different types of clubs before making a decision.
